Hit the Beach

Labor Day is often known to be the last weekend of the summer season before autumn creeps in quickly. Use this extended weekend to enjoy some last-minute summer ideas such as hitting the beach. Everyone knows that Florida has some of the best beaches on the East Coast especially in and around Cape Coral. If you are looking for a romantic stroll on the beach look no further than Captiva Beach. This is a wide beach with white sand that stretches all the way up to Captiva Island. The beach is a bit more secluded, so parking is limited. However, you will find that Captiva Beach has been appropriately named the “Most Romantic Beach in Florida” for a reason. If you brought your loveable dog with you on your trip to Cape Coral, take them over to Bonita Beach. This is a popular dog beach park that lets you take your pup off the leash so they can run around freely. The size of the beach varies with the tide, but parking is always free. Head over to Bowman’s Beach for another secluded beach that is world famous. This beach is made up of multiple secluded sandy beaches allowing you plenty of space to relax and enjoy some downtime. You will find plenty of amenities here including BBQ grills, outdoor picnic tables, a shaded playground, outdoor showers, restrooms, and much more. Little ones will love the Pirate’s Cove that features slides and geysers. However, nothing stands close to the thrilling water slides here at the park. You will find both water slides that are used with water tubes and ones without. Tall, towering slides let you hit high speeds before jumping out into the water. The water tube slides keep you in darkened tunnels as you wind down enclosed tubes. It is easy to spend a whole day at Sun Splash too as they have an onsite restaurant where you can find delicious grub. Make sure to hit up this attraction before it closes for the season!

Grab a Summer Beverage

Labor Day Weekend is not just all about the kids having fun; let the adults live it up while in town and find a place to grab a delicious beverage from. Wicked Dolphin Rum is a local distillery that specializes in their mouthwatering rum. Only natural ingredients, including the Florida sugar cane, are used in each batch. Enjoy a rum flight so you can try each variety and sample their nuances or order up a cocktail that is crafted perfectly by their trained staff. If you are in the mood for a summer beer instead you will have plenty of brewery options in town including Big Storm Brewery and Eight-Foot Brewing. Each place offers hand crafted ales that feature your favorite styles such as lagers, IPAs, stouts, sours, and more. While Florida does not have any wineries in the area you can always stop at Good Intentions Uncorked for a huge selection of wine by the bottle or glass!

Try the Local Cuisine

When staying in a beachside locale like Cape Coral, you will want to make sure to try the food! Fish Tale Grill has the perfect seafood that is always freshly caught.
