Football Season Is Back:
Why the 2026 NFL Season Has Fans Fired Up
There is nothing quite like the return of football season. The countdown is nearly over, the preseason is underway, and football fans everywhere are getting ready for another unforgettable NFL season.
The 2026 NFL regular season officially kicks off Wednesday, September 9, when the defending Super Bowl LX champion Seattle Seahawks begin their title defense at home.
A New Season Means a Fresh Start
Every NFL season brings new expectations. Teams that struggled last year believe they can turn things around, while playoff contenders are looking for the final piece that can take them all the way to the Super Bowl.
For fans, that is part of what makes football so exciting. Before the first meaningful snap, every team has a chance to dream.
The NFL’s regular season will once again feature each team playing 17 games over an 18-week schedule, creating plenty of opportunities for rivalries, surprises and dramatic finishes.
The Road to the Super Bowl
Winning in the NFL is never easy. A team has to survive injuries, tough road games, divisional rivalries and the pressure that builds as the season progresses.
By December, every game becomes more important. A single win can help secure a playoff spot, while a single loss can change the entire postseason picture.
That is what makes Sundays so special. Fans aren’t just watching a game—they are watching a season unfold one play at a time.
Prime-Time Football
Football isn’t limited to Sunday afternoons anymore. Thursday Night Football, Sunday Night Football and Monday Night Football give fans several opportunities each week to watch the league’s biggest matchups.
The 2026 schedule already includes some intriguing prime-time games, including the Broncos visiting the Chiefs on Monday night in Week 1 and the Lions visiting the Bills on Thursday night in Week 2.
These games have become part of the weekly rhythm of football season: dinner, friends, family, fantasy football and, of course, arguing over which team is going to win.
More Than Just a Game
The NFL is about more than touchdowns and statistics. Football brings people together.
It is tailgating before a game, wearing your favorite team’s jersey, watching with friends, cheering from the couch and talking about Sunday’s biggest plays all week long.
Every fan has a favorite memory. Maybe it is a championship, an incredible comeback, a last-second field goal or simply watching football with family members who passed their love of the game down through generations.
Let the Season Begin
The beauty of a new NFL season is that nobody knows exactly how the story will end.
There will be heroes and heartbreaks. There will be breakout stars, unexpected contenders and teams that fail to live up to expectations. There will be games that fans remember for years.
And that is exactly why we love football.
The wait is almost over. The stadium lights are coming on, the jerseys are coming out, and millions of fans are getting ready to cheer for their teams.
Football season is here. Let the games begin!
